You have decided to come to Good Look Clinic and got your Hair Transplant procedure done. Now, you are leaving the clinic very satisfied and delighted. So far so good, but is that all? Of course not, because no matter how professional and competent our team is, there are some rules to be followed to get the perfect result.
Since washing hair correctly affects the result of Hair Transplantation, it should be learned as the first thing to do. Our expert team will be guiding you at the clinic, but just in case we will tell you how.
First, softening effect on scabs around the transplanted grafts and donor area both helps to remove dried blood, and heal faster. That’s why the transplanted area should be covered with a suitable moisturizer (lotion/oil/etc.) and left for approximately 15 minutes. Then, the donor and transplanted areas should be washed gently with warm water and a special medical shampoo. After washing, the hair should be dried by patting, not rubbing. This procedure should be applied daily for about 15 days. After 15 days, you may start washing your hair as usual.
In addition to washing procedure, sleeping position is also highly important after hair transplant. In the first week after the operation, the transplanted area should be touched as little as possible. For this reason, patients are asked to sleep on their backs with their heads elevated on several pillows for 8-10 days. Those will not be your best nights, we know that, but pillows will raise your head during the night and reduce swelling that may occur after hair transplantation, so it is extremely important.
As we have covered washing and sleeping, we can move on with what ‘not’ to eat, and what ‘not’ to do during healing period. To start with, consuming salty food such as olives, cheese, pickles, and chips should be avoided. Foods high in saturated fat are your enemies in the post-hair transplant period, too. Furthermore, the first thing we do in the morning, which is most probably drinking coffee, is not advised after surgery period. Avoiding drinking alcohol and smoking is another challenge, but you should look from the bright side. While you are taking some precautions to heal faster, your overall health will be improved. So, it is a win-win.
At healing period, vitamins and omega-3 will be your best friends. After the operation, it is advised to eat foods high in vitamins, especially vitamin b, such as brown rice, broccoli, spinach, grain pasta, black beans, lettuce, pepper, almond, and zucchini. Intaking nutrients containing magnesium, zinc, calcium, and iron is also a good idea, since these elements, which are extremely beneficial to human health, will strengthen the hair follicles and allow for a quick transition to the growth phase.
As a plus, you may use Minoxidil, which is used to stimulate hair growth and to slow balding, 1 month after the transplant operation, when the transplanted and donor areas are completely healed.
If you follow these steps, the odds will be in your favor to achieve dazzling, volumized hair. We know there are so many details, and you may be confused. Luckily our aftercare team will be always available on +90 549 108 08 00 so you won’t be left in the dark if you have any questions or concerns at any point during the recovery process.
