Neck Lift Surgery
Neck lift is a surgical operation that aims to eliminate the negativities that occur with aging in the neck and chin area.
With neck lift surgery, it is possible to improve the jowl formation and loose skin, which is seen due to excess fat and sagging skin in the neck area. The main causes of problems in the neck can be listed as old age, genetics, gravity, and environmental factors.
Neck Lift Surgery: Procedure
Neck lift surgery is mostly performed under general anesthesia or sedation. The procedure during the operation may vary depending on the consultation between the patient and the doctor. As a result of this decision; a traditional neck lift can be performed, or the surgery can be performed with a limited incision. In a conventional neck lift, the fat in the jowl is distributed and shaped. The tissue under the skin is repositioned. During this process, the platysma muscle is stretched. An additional incision is often made if liposuction and muscle repair are required.
In the limited-incision procedure, only an incision is made around the ear. The length of this incision is short and the results can be limited. At the end of both procedures, the incisions are closed by using sutures or skin adhesives. If the absorbable sutures are not used, the stitches should remove by the surgeon after a few days.
Neck Lift Surgery: Candidates
People who want to have neck lift surgery should meet some conditions. Living a healthy life, not having a chronic disease, not smoking, and having realistic expectations about the operation are the main ones. People who are satisfied with their face form and appearance do not prefer facelift surgery. Neck lift surgery is waiting for them.
Neck Lift Surgery: Recovery
A bandage is applied to the treated area for swelling and bruises that may be seen during the recovery period after neck lift surgery. Drain may be inserted to prevent excess blood or fluid under the skin. In order to reduce the possibility of infection and quick recovery, the surgeon gives the patient the precautions to be followed. It is recommended that the patient keep his head elevated. Cold compress directly to the neck area is generally not recommended, as this can affect blood flow and cause damage to the skin.
